Children’s Social Work Matters (CSWM) is run by Barnsley Council on behalf of the 15 local authorities in Yorkshire & The Humber. Barnsley Council is registered with the Information Commissioners Office as a Data Controller. Our registration number is Z5121328. We collect and process information in accordance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. 

This CSWM privacy policy statement discloses the privacy practices for www.childrenssocialworkmatters.org – how we use and look after your personal information. It applies solely to this website; links within this site to other websites are not covered by this privacy statement.

Information collection and use

The Children’s Social Work Matters website will record your name, email address and telephone/mobile number if you:

  • Submit a question to one of our Champions

  • Sign up to receive job alerts

  • Send us an email

It will be used to allow us to respond to your request for information. In doing so, the legal basis we have for processing your personal information is that of a ‘legitimate interest’.

In order to process your information request, as part of our partnership arrangements we may need to share this data with the organisations within the CSWM programme (Barnsley Council, Bradford Council, Calderdale Council, Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Hull City Council, Kirklees Council, Leeds City Council, North East Lincolnshire Council, North Lincolnshire Council, North Yorkshire Council, Rotherham Council, Sheffield City Council, Wakefield Council, York Council). 

Your rights, access and control of your personal information

You have the right to see what information: is held about you; have incorrect information corrected; and to have it removed.

Where we hold your personal information we’ll:

  • Provide records of what we hold when you request this from us

  • Correct it if it’s inaccurate, especially if you ask us to

  • Stop processing personal information where we can, and if you ask us to

  • Stop sending you mailing information when you ask us to (opt out)

Your personal information will be kept for a maximum of three years or until such time as the data is reviewed by us or is removed at your request.
