Another month brings another winner of our regional CSWM Social Worker of the Month award, and June’s recipient is Rotherham’s Emma Adams!

Emma was nominated for her exceptional progress in her first year of practice, particularly around her quality of work and communication. She has already produced positive outcomes and received positive feedback from families and her team.

Our judges from East Riding were impressed with Emma’s achievements:

We felt that Emma is a deserving winner of this month’s award. Although she is still in her first year as a Newly Qualified Social Worker, we could see from the nomination that she has demonstrated a level of professionalism, organisation and child centred practice that is making a tangible difference to children and families. The nomination highlighted her ability to build trusting relationships, complete valuable direct work by creatively engaging children with complex needs and ensuring their voices are meaningfully heard. Family feedback was excellent and demonstrated the significant impact of her work for the children and families she is supporting.

The strong audit outcome was impressive and offered further evidence of the dedication, compassion and commitment to achieving positive outcomes that was demonstrated in the nomination.

Judges: Penny Donno, Director of Children and Young People’s Support and Safeguarding Services and Sarah Forrest, Principal Social Worker – East Riding of Yorkshire Council

Stuart Williams, Service Director of Children's Social Care at Rotherham, presented Emma with the award and shared his praise for her win:

I am absolutely delighted that Emma has been recognised as Social Worker of the Month across the Yorkshire and Humber Region. To receive this award in her very first year as a Newly Qualified Social Worker is a fantastic achievement and reflects the commitment, compassion and professionalism she brings to her work every day.

Emma has quickly developed strong, trusting relationships with children and families, ensuring that children's voices are heard and that they receive the right support at the right time. Her commitment to achieving positive outcomes, particularly for children with complex needs, has been recognised not only by her colleagues but also by the families she works alongside.

We are all incredibly proud of Emma and everything she has achieved so far. She is a credit to Rotherham Children's Services and to the social work profession, and I have no doubt that she has a very bright future ahead of her. We look forward to seeing her continue to develop and make a positive impact throughout her career.

Stuart Williams, Service Director - Children's Social Care, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council

The CSWM Awards are our monthly award which celebrates social workers who go above and beyond. Each of our partner local authorities and adoption agencies can make one nomination per month. The winner is picked by our guest judges - senior colleagues from different local authorities.
