L-R: Jess Taylor, Social Worker and Ben Dent, Deputy Service Director Children in Care and Care Leavers

Our winner for the month of January is Jessica Taylor from North East Lincolnshire Council!

Jess was nominated for consistently demonstrates exceptional dedication and commitment to young people in care, often going above and beyond her statutory responsibilities.

In addition to her direct work with children, Jess fosters a positive and connected team environment. She sends daily motivational messages to the team chat, infusing humour and encouragement that uplifts colleagues and strengthens team cohesion.

Our judging panel from Wakefield gave a powerful rationale for their choice:

Her nomination clearly demonstrates exceptional dedication, compassion, and a level of commitment that goes far beyond her statutory responsibilities. As reflected, Jess has supported a young person through a significant life milestone, ensured another child received their passport in time for a once in a lifetime holiday, and provided thoughtful, sensitive support to a young person experiencing bereavement.

Jess’s contribution goes beyond individual cases. She actively engages with the wider team to embed a strong, child centred culture across the service, leading by example and reinforcing the values that lie at the heart of outstanding social care.

Through her actions, Jess demonstrates professionalism, kindness, and a deep understanding of what truly matters to children and young people. We described her as an inspiring role model for colleagues and a powerful advocate for the children she supports.
