Job description

Children's Senior Social Worker

Job description

We are recruiting skilled and child-centred experienced social workers to join us in Sheffield.  We are looking for the very best qualified social workers who are SWE registered with significant post-qualifying experience. There are opportunities to gain specialist knowledge in areas such as Fieldwork, Children’s Safeguarding Hub (MASH), Fieldwork Assessment Teams, Children Looked After, Children with Disabilities, Amber Service, with lots of opportunities for development.

Here in Sheffield, our social workers are incredible people and we have an offer that makes a tough but highly rewarding job that little bit easier:-

  • A genuinely supportive team

  • Manageable caseloads that are closely monitored (currently averaging 18-20)

  • Senior leaders who are child-focused with a strong commitment to invest in the workforce

  • High quality reflective monthly supervisions from experienced managers

  • Comprehensive training and development offer with plenty of opportunities for career progression

  • Opportunities to train as a Practice Educator and other CPD available at our local Universities

  • Generous flexible working packages and necessary time to enjoy your home life (flexibility around working hours and remote working)

  • Innovative practice resulting in better outcomes for children and young people

  • Sheffield is a great city – It is diverse with a wide range of cultural, social and outdoor activities, good schools and has excellent transport links

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment.  All successful candidates will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups.  We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly. It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.

Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
