Job description

We are looking for committed, creative and versatile individuals to join our team. Candidates must be prepared to work flexible; to include two, three hours shifts per week over evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

The successful candidate will engage with children and young people within their community to promote appropriate behaviour and encourage positive activities accessible for the age range, including promotion of social action projects. A particular aim will be to reduce Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) through educating and engaging young people. Through your actions and advice as an Outreach Youth Worker, you will help children and young people to achieve the futures they deserve and equip them with skills and knowledge they need.

Do you have the qualities, skills and passion to make a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and families in North Lincolnshire?

To apply you must have experience of working with children and have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (or the ability to achieve) in a youth work related subject.

Your application must provide evidence on your ability to meet key responsibilities which includes:

  • To undertake detached work directly with young people in a variety of settings, wherever young people meet and develop their social education by providing programmes of activities, services and facilities

  • Engage and build positive relationships with socially excluded and at “risk” young people to provide effective 1:1 and group work support. • To identify, target and work with young people who are involved in anti-social behaviour and related disorder to identify their needs and introduce a programme of activities to provide new positive opportunities and experiences.

  • Plan evening and weekend sessions with staff, debrief at the end of the evening and collate data reporting back to Senior and/or Team Manager.

  • Engagement of young people in diversionary activities leading to raising of aspirations and engagement in positive activities.

  • Take responsibility for making each contact count and to provide support to young people in overcoming barriers to positive engagement.

  • To develop in partnership with other agencies, strategies to prevent anti-social behaviour and risk taking behaviour whilst liaising with key partner agencies

  • To contribute to strategies to tackle anti-social behaviour, including working with young people identified as currently or potentially involved in such activity
