Clinical Psychologist RAA
We are currently looking to recruit a clinical psychologist to One Adoption South Yorkshire Regional Adoption Agency.
This is a relatively new agency which brings together the local authority adoption services of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield to work in partnership. Nationally, all local authority adoption teams are now part of larger regional agencies, as a way bringing together resources and expertise to improve and develop practice in the field of adoption.
The agency places around 110 children a year for adoption and approves around 90 adoptive families. Many of these children have had difficult starts in life which can impact upon them as they grow and develop. The families also need the skills to relate to issues around identity and complex life stories. The successful preparation and matching of children and families, along with ongoing support for adoptive families are key development areas for the new regional service. As such we are growing our adoption support service and this clinical psychologist position is part of that development.
We are seeking to appoint a qualified clinical psychologist to join the Hub team based in Doncaster to provide advice and consultation to social workers across the 4 teams undertaking family assessments and to provide specialist assessments and direct work where required. There will be opportunities to develop therapeutic approaches in areas such as DDP and Thera play as well as therapeutic parenting courses. Although the post is based in Doncaster there are teams and adoptive families right across the region so some travelling and working from other bases will be expected.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new and developing organisation and bring your expertise and enthusiasm to shape adoption services in South Yorkshire. Although initially this will be a single clinical psychologist post with the Regional Adoption Agency there will be links with other clinical psychologists employed by local authority children’s services and specialist clinical supervision will be provided.
