“Social work is flourishing”
Our Vision for Calderdale in 2024 is a place where everyone can reach their potential and lead a larger life. We will be defined by our innate kindness and resilience and be measured by how our people and communities care and support each other.
In our 2019 Inspection, Ofsted stated that “we have created a culture in which staff feel valued and safe. Social work is flourishing. It is evident across all levels of social care that all staff are treated with dignity and kindness. This approach has created an environment in which social workers feel listened to and supported to develop their skills and knowledge.”
Our Safe Successful Families approach to our children and family social work has transformed our children’s social work teams by introducing a systemic approach to working with children and families. We work collaboratively with children and families. We use a shared set of values, a common language, and a consistent approach. We prize learning above blame and a supportive, generous work culture is encouraged. We have now returned to working within an office and as we move forward, we are working together with a service approach to meet individual needs as we work from an office base supported by home working where we have learned the benefits of such mobile and virtual working.
In Calderdale we have fantastic opportunities in Children’s Social Care, and we are looking for passionate and committed Social Workers who can make a meaningful difference to our children. We offer our Social Workers opportunities for continuing growth through our Progression Pathway to help Social Workers plan and succeed in their career.
The benefits of working for Calderdale Children’s Social Care is that you will be supported to provide the very best service for our children. Quality reflective supervision is provided and there is very much a learning culture within the service. We give a commitment to offering a work life balance by maintaining low caseloads at an appropriate level. Ensuring practitioners are given opportunities to work effectively and robustly. We offer free car parking and after the first year a retention payment. You will be given a comprehensive induction program and provided with regular person focused supervision to meet your well-being, training, and development needs.
Our systemic practice model means that we value our relationships and collaboration with children and families, colleagues, and partners. We promote practice reflection and understand the importance of learning, both as individuals and as an organisation.
Applications will be considered from qualified social workers (BA/DipSW/CQSW or equivalent), registered with Social Work England, who can demonstrate qualifying experience gained within statutory children and families’ service.
