Job description

Part time Senior Fieldwork Manager - Adoptions service

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Adoption Service, in the role of Part time Senior Fieldwork Manager working three days per week. In this role you will lead on Family Finding activity in Sheffield as well as having some oversight of the Adoption Support Team.

Sheffield Adoption Team is part of One Adoption South Yorkshire Regional Adoption Agency (OASY). You will be based in Sheffield but expected to travel across the region for some meetings.

OASY is a partnership regional adoption agency, you will be part of the regional Management structure promoting Family Finding for children with plans of adoption across South Yorkshire. OASY has strong links regionally with One Adoption West Yorkshire and One Adoption North Yorkshire and Humber.

The role supports hybrid working with an expectation you will work from the office in Sheffield for a minimum of 2 days per week pro rata. Sheffield Adoption Team is a dynamic, forward-thinking service, and has a strong working relationship with colleagues within the Sheffield fieldwork teams to support permanence planning (graded &«outstanding&ª at the last ILACS inspection), and One Adoption South Yorkshire colleagues.

Adoption Support across the region is a growing priority and part of your role will be supervising worker(s) in the Adoption Support Team. You will also cover duty manager tasks which will require an understanding of each stage of the adoption process.

The Family Finding Team promotes early permanence and family finding at the earliest opportunity to avoid unnecessary delay for children. The social workers work closely with the team around the child to promote the plan of adoption. Great emphasis is placed on the careful planning and transition of children to their growing up family.

The current national agenda is promoting more open adoption and exploring ways for families to keep in touch over time, recruiting more adopters to meet the needs of the children waiting and incorporating the AFT-ID framework to support positive outcomes for children.

Whilst this role is to undertake the elements of adoption outlined above, changes in the service may require the need to work in another discipline within the wider team as part of your role and duties.
