Job description

Barnsley is a place of possibilities.

We are a growing service that helps to drive, manage, and support our Children’s Services transformational programme.

We are committed and passionate about helping, protecting, and caring for children and young people across Barnsley. Our vision for Children’s Services is ambitious, we know what needs to be done and we will deliver on our plans.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment supporting our Programme and Project managers to deliver all the activities in our Development Plan. Our projects are children services focused and will be varied and exciting.  The role will enable you to support service improvement and build up your knowledge and experience across many areas of Children’s Services, more importantly the role will be extremely rewarding, as our changes will mean we offer better services to children, young people, and families across the Borough.

What you’ll need

We are looking for a Project Officer with a ‘can do’ attitude that will support the delivery of the Children’s Services Development Plan. You will manage small projects independently, carry out activity reviews, support the maintenance of the Development Plan, trackers and risk registers and work collaboratively with colleagues, managers staff and partners across the service.

You will need project experience, a positive attitude and a desire to resolve problems. You will need good communication skills as managing relationships with key stakeholders is a must.  You will need to demonstrate that you can prioritise and work to timescale as these skills are critical to the successful delivery of our plans

Here at Barnsley, we live and work by four important values: honesty, teamwork, excellent service, and taking pride in what we do.  We want people that are good team players in addition to working effectively on your own, delivering projects to timescale

Experience in children’s services will be helpful but not necessary.
