Job description

The Vacancy

Do you have an interest in Autism, ADHD, and neurodiversity?
Are you looking for an opportunity to widen your experience of supporting children and young people to achieve their potential within education?

There is a secondment opportunity for an Outreach Practitioner in the Autism Spectrum Education Team (ASET) for up to one year to start in March 2024.

Our Team consists of four Teachers (one F/T Secondary, one F/T Primary and two P/T Primary) along with five Outreach Practitioners who work to support autistic children and young people, as well as those with social communication and interaction presentations who may or may not go on to receive a diagnosis.

We support children/young people from transition into Reception through to transition out of College. Ideally you will have mainstream KS2 school experience and knowledge and understanding of autism/neurodevelopmental differences. Training and support will be provided for the right candidate.

As part of the role, you will work alongside the Specialist Teacher in the ASET Resource Base (KS2 Provision). You will also work alongside the other Outreach Practitioners in schools to support identification and understanding of need to ensure the right support is in place. This will be achieved by attending meetings, observations, and some direct work with schools.

We are a small and enthusiastic group of teaching staff whose drive is to successfully include children and young people in education. We are continually reflecting and reviewing our work to bring in the newest and best ways of working.
We employ a solution focused approach working together with children, young people, and a wide range of professionals, including Health colleagues, to enable success and progress for those we work with.

Previous candidates need not apply.
