Our Fostering Teams work with adults from the age of 21 years, who are interested in fostering, have applied to foster, or are approved foster carers.

About You:

   

If you have enthusiasm to develop relationships with potential foster carers and are able to assess their suitability to successfully care for children and young people, we would love to hear from you!   We are looking for a full time, permanent assessing social worker.

    

As our ideal candidate you will:

   

Undertake mainstream fostering assessments with potential foster carers (using the Form F assessment tool).  Dependent upon the needs of the service you may also be required to complete Family and Friends and Supported Lodgings assessments.  You will also be responsible for implementing our innovative IFA transfer assessment process.

   

The ideal candidate will be a qualified and experienced Social Worker, who is able to use their transferrable skills, knowledge and experience to complete fostering assessments and present them to Foster Panel.  You will have knowledge and experience of applying statutory legal frameworks and policies Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.  Exceptional assessment and analytical skills with the ability to meet foster panel deadlines are also necessary. 

   

As the service requires, you will be expected to work closely with our partner agency and Fostering Advisors to respond to new enquiries and conduct initial assessments of prospective applicants, producing brief reports to inform a decision about whether to invite them to apply to foster with RMBC.  There will be opportunity to be involved in our Skills to Foster Training Programme working closely with other Assessing Social Workers and prospective future foster carers.
