We are seeking an experienced Enhanced Senior Social Worker to join our Emergency Duty Team in a part time position.
This is an exciting opportunity available for a committed, enthusiastic and driven individual to join Wakefield Emergency Duty Team as a Enhanced Senior Social Worker responding to requests for service and engaging vulnerable and at-risk families across the Wakefield district.

Our Team is co-located with the Police at Havertop Police Station, Normanton, and you will be subject to full police vetting.
Who are we and what do we do?
The Children’s Emergency Duty Team (EDT) is a small team of qualified, specially trained and experienced social workers who provide an emergency response outside of office hours on behalf of Children’s Social Care. EDT work 365 days a year and will consider a response for any child or young person (up to the age of 18) who is at risk of significant harm. Children’s EDT forms part of the Integrated Front Door.
We adopt a restorative approach in every aspect of our practice. We work collaboratively with partner agencies, such as the Police, Health, Education, Youth Justice Service and CAMHS to promote resilience and positive change for the children in our district. What will be expected from me?
You will play a central role in achieving positive outcomes for children and young people in Wakefield District. You will be working with a small and well supported team led by engaging and supportive Advanced Social Work Practitioners who are committed to making a difference to families within Wakefield.
To work unsocialable hours primarily weekends but also including bank holidays and evenings.
What does the role involve?
- Providing an emergency response for any child or young person (up to the age of 18) who is at risk of significant harm.
- Working alongside Advanced Practitioners to ensure the best outcome for our children and young people.
- Out of hours welfare visits with EDT Advanced Social Work Practitoners.
- Working primaryly Saturday and Sunday and occasional bank holidays and weekday evenings.
What can I expect?
- This is a part time post of 18.5 hrs per week working Saturday and Sunday and may include occasional bank holidays.
- Excellent Salary grade range: G10/11 Enhanced Senior Social Worker (£42,389 – £50,269 pro-rata) and additional 33.33% weekend working enhancement.
