North Yorkshire County Council have a national reputation for excellence and we are looking for a Social Worker with a variety of experience and skills to join our Adoption Team. We also welcome those who are looking to relocate. North Yorkshire County Council’s adoption service is part of One Adoption North and Humber, a high performing regional adoption agency.     One Adoption North and Humber is committed to providing timely, high quality services to meet the needs of children who need permanence through adoption. You will be part of a highly acclaimed, supportive service that has a comprehensive programme to ensure all staff have a thorough induction, receive ongoing support from managers and have the opportunity to progress in your career.

We value staff development and offer a wide range of training opportunities within the context of this role, including trauma informed practice models and approaches that enhance the service delivery to our children and adoptive families.  Working in Adoption is an exciting, challenging, unique and rewarding job. It is a role, which gives Social Workers the opportunity to operate within a range of contexts, for example, undertaking an assessment of prospective adopters, providing adoption support services to children & families, providing preparation training to prospective adoptive parents and being part of a professional team to support the matching and placing of children.

As a service, we are committed to creating a positive and supportive team culture where social workers feel that they have a forum to share their views about the organisation and environment in which they work. We clearly demonstrate that the voice of the child and family shape the service we provide and this is evidenced throughout our practice.

Feedback from Social Worker’s in our team;

“My role gives me great pride and satisfaction in what I do. I have the unique opportunity to engage with and work alongside people who are at a range of different stages in their lives, whether that be starting out on their journey to becoming adoptive parents, or celebrating the creation of their permanent family through an Adoption Order".

"I really enjoy providing support to adoptive families and their children and knowing that I am making a positive difference to their lives. The opportunities to work alongside a team of social workers, that offer invaluable support, knowledge and experience, enables me to continue to learn and grow as a professional".

"This job offers me a range of opportunities to utilise my skills in different ways and I benefit from the fantastic support of my managers and colleagues, working within an excellent Local Authority and in partnership with the Regional Adoption Agency One Adoption North & Humber".
