Managing a team of professional Social Workers and Community Resource Workers, you’ll play a vital role in protecting the quality of service we provide in the district. Your insight and experience will play an essential role in our ability to deliver the highest professional standards – always putting the needs of our children, young people and families at the heart. Using your strong leadership skills, you’ll take a holistic view to build on our successes and continue to drive improvement - ensuring we deliver on our responsibilities as a corporate parent.

This is leadership on the front line, where you’ll be challenged to bring everything you’ve trained for to deliver for children and young people in need and/or in need of protection and children looked after. It will be as rewarding as it is challenging. It’s diverse and the cases are often complex. And you’ll be at the heart of it – from assessing and intervening to planning and reviewing, you’ll ensure that all needs are met. Focused and driven on quality outcomes, you’ll lead, manage and inspire those around you to improve the lives of the children and young people of Bradford.

You’ll be supported and nurtured every step of the way by experienced leaders and given time for regular reflective supervision. In each locality we have a court consultant to support our Social Workers to deliver high quality reports and timely and effective decision making in the court arena. Key deliverables of the role are:

  • Leading multi-agency planning meetings, ensuring that partnership working delivers effective and co-ordinated plans, which respond to identified needs and/or risks.

  • Manage team resources to ensure that all cases have smart, outcome focused care plans that are regularly reviewed.

  • Lead your team to ensure consistently high professional social care standards of practice are delivered and continuous professional development is embedded in your team culture.

  • Optimise team performance against local and national targets.

  • Quality assure and audit case records, assessments, plans and documentation to ensure that practice standards are being met.

  • Provide critical reflection, challenge and evidence-informed decision-making in complex situations for children and support others in developing these capabilities.

  • Promote positive approaches to diversity and identity within the team and across the department, providing guidance and challenge as required.

  • Supporting and facilitate projects and events that lead to the development of operational practice.

  • Role modelling restorative practice and promoting family led decision making.
