Job description

We are pleased to be inviting applications for social workers to join our teams supporting children and young people in care. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to working with children and young people as their corporate parent and achieving best possible outcomes.

 

We have a clear career pathway for social workers in York. We welcome applications from newly qualified social workers through to those with more experience. If you have more experience we may offer to directly recruit you as a Senior Social Worker at a higher grade. Please speak to us if this is of interest.

Our model of practice includes Signs of Safety and Family seeing, social workers will have the opportunity to work directly with the co-founders of these models and embark on the journey with us.

 

 

The Children in Permanent Placements Team works with looked after children, implementing their care plans to support them through to adulthood or to return to their families when positive change has been achieved.  We support children and young people who are subject to Care Orders and those accommodated under Section 20 of the Children Act.

 

We seek to support our children and young people to achieve their potential through having high aspirations for them.

 

Successful candidates will have a manageable caseload which will allow you to form strong relationships with children, young people and the team around them. Our social workers work in an high challenge and high support environment with an established and committed team.  There is regular one to one supervision as well as peer supervision.

 

It is an exciting time to join our team as we embark on achieving our ambition plan.  We continue to develop a  solution focussed, reflective and analytical approach to working alongside our children, young people and their families.

 

Candidates will need to be highly motivated and committed to ensuring timescales are met to ensure our young people receive a good quality service. The candidate will need to be able to work independently, with skills in working within timescales and with conflicting priorities.

 

It is critical that the candidate has excellent written and oral communication skills.  The preparation of clear, analytical and coherent reports is a requirement of this post.  Assessing need and writing children’s care plans which include the voice of children, young people and families throughout the process is essential.

In order to apply you will need a degree in Social Work and also be registered or planning to register with Social Work England to apply.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

 

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.

ASYE Grade 8. Level 1-2.

Social Worker Grade 9 Level 1- 4 (£33,812 to £38,305 per annum)

Senior Social Worker Grade 10 Level 1-4  (£39,039 to £44,487)

37 & 18.5 hrs
