Job description

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of children, young people and their families in North Lincolnshire through providing comprehensive coaching and mentoring support to our students, newly qualified social workers and wider Children and Families workforce? Do you have the creativity, enthusiasm and practice experience to be able to role model good practice? If so, the Professional Development Co-ordinator role within Children and Families Workforce Development may be for you!

We are looking for a Professional Development Co-ordinator to become part of our Children and Families Workforce Development Team to help support the development of students, newly qualified social workers and wider social work and social care practice.

Our innovative One Family Approach model ensures the best possible outcomes for families and children. We believe children and young people should be in their families, in their schools and in their communities.

Ofsted agrees with us, saying in a recent report, “It’s focus on keeping children and young people at the heart of everything is the most striking element of this outstanding local authority”.

Everyone at North Lincolnshire Council shares a commitment to enabling resilience and helping families stay together. “North Lincolnshire has been outstandingly effective in creating an environment where good social work is flourishing…. social workers are overwhelmingly positive about working for the authority and the support and training they receive” (Ofsted 2017).

We are seeking highly experienced, motivated Social Workers to contribute towards the outstanding social work practice in North Lincolnshire. If you believe, as we do in putting children and families at the heart of practice, then why not come join this outstanding team.

Our approach, our investment in our workforce, our culture of continuous learning and improvement, as well as our friendly and inclusive working environment is what makes us stand out from the crowd. We offer agile, flexible working and in-house training with a focus on the wellbeing of our workforce.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Children and Families Practice Development Lead and Principal Social Worker to co-ordinate, develop and manage the process of professional and practice development within North Lincolnshire Council’s Children’s and Families to ensure a workforce with the stability, skills, attributes, and knowledge to achieve outstanding outcomes for children and families.

This post holder will take a lead on Practice Education for student social workers.

In North Lincolnshire we care about our workforce and want to ensure optimal conditions for professional practice with the best possible learning experiences for our students, a supported first year in practice for our Newly Qualified Social

Workers with continuous professional development and progression opportunities for our wider workforce.

We are looking for someone who has an understanding and awareness of the ASYE programme and experience of supporting, coaching and mentoring others. The role also includes close links to the Humber Social Work Teaching Partnership. Candidates must be qualified social workers registered with Social Work England and hold a Practice Education qualification or be willing to work towards one.
