Grade: H

Salary:  From £29,269 to £32,076 per annum
Vacancy Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent - Hybrid working with an expectation that office working and in-person attendance at meetings will regularly be required 
Location: Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale

North Yorkshire Council have a national reputation for excellence, The SEND family of services is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to be a SEND Casework Officer to join our growing service. We also welcome those who are looking to relocate. 

 

The Role

 

This key role in the SEND Integrated Assessment Team will be responsible for a caseload of children and young people and will involve communicating effectively and working collaboratively with a variety of partner agencies and organisations both internally within NYC and externally to coordinate Education, Health and Care assessments and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP's) in line with statutory guidance. As well as families within their locality to ensure the best outcomes are achieved for those children and young people in their area.

 

The post sits within the wider inclusion team where additional support for children and young people with SEN is available from the SEND hub services and where appropriate the medical education service. North Yorkshire SEND team is also supported throughout the administration process of the statutory assessment by the Business admin team.  

 

 

About you

 

The right person will have the relevant experience and qualifications working with or alongside children and young people within an Education (QTS or equivalent), Health or Social Care context. They will also be aware of the SEND regulations 2014, Children’s and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015. Candidates must be experienced in using databases and Microsoft packages and understand the importance of handling data in line with the General Data Protection Regulations 2018.

As a customer facing service, the right person will need to carry themselves with a parent and child centred focussed. They must ensure that the families within our district are at the heart of what they do.

Above all, we are looking to find the ‘right' person who will become a valued part of our SEND family of services to help us take the next steps in our improvement journey for supporting children, young people and their families.

We offer a supportive peer to peer induction programme and monthly CPD opportunities.
