This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and innovate Team Manager or Senior Practitioner to take us forward and help us achieve our ambitions and be part of the next stage of our journey. We are committed to making sure that every child makes the best start in life, and we are striving to become a child-centred borough and underpinned by the ‘Rotherham Family Approach’.

We will listen. We will act. We will do the right things for the right reasons. Will you?

We have restructured to enable us to deploy much smaller teams. This means a greater degree of supervision and a more appropriate caseload level – enabling our practitioners to focus on fewer customers, ensuring those who need us most get the attention they need.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Team Managers lead social worker teams within Children’s Social Care. As such they are the lynch pins in our organisation: leading and supporting our people in the field and carrying out the day-to-day management of child protection services to children and young people. Reporting to Service Managers, our Team Managers play a crucial role, dealing with staff at all levels, interpreting and communicating feedback and providing an important, positive interface for their practitioners, in a multi-agency environment. We are confident that you will be joining an organisation that is rewarding in every sense, for every individual.  And most importantly, that will serve our community to the highest possible standards.

You will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational delivery of a statutory social work team. You will be a ‘critical friend’ to your team bringing high challenge and high support to promote reflective practice and a continual learning environment.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for a team of Social Workers and be at the forefront of the delivery of our safeguarding practice. You will play a vital role in building on our learning, quality assurance and performance culture - providing leadership, direction and support that is rewarding in every sense, for every individual.

Key benefits of working at Rotherham Council’s Children and Young People’s service are:

You will be joining an authority Ofsted rate as Good

Manageable caseloads

Hybrid working arrangements to support its employees; this consists of a mix of office-based activity and time spent home working. This promotes a pro-active work/life balance culture throughout the Council, recognising the importance of flexibility to support a positive health and well-being ethos.

Strong management support and oversight with approachable and supportive senior managers

Regular reflective supervision

Excellent professional learning & development opportunities

Excellent social work case management and reporting systems making your job easier

An accredited social work career pathway to Level 2, 3 and Advanced Practitioner positions and a proven record of ‘growing our own’ at all levels.

Able to offer fixed term contracts to cover maternity leave should that suit your personal circumstances

Early Help provision is strong, which is now reducing the demand for social care and supporting professionals with creative options for service users

Developed ‘edge of care’ services including ‘Family Group Conferencing’

Investment has been secured to ensure our most challenging young people have access to high quality therapeutic support
