Job description

Calderdale Council’s Children’s Services have recently been judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’ overall with outstanding features for all our services to children in care and care leavers. We have fantastic opportunities in Children’s Social Care and are looking for passionate and committed people who can make a meaningful difference to our children and contribute to our continuing improvement journey. An exciting opportunity has been created as part of Calderdale’s commitment to supporting Special Guardians as an Advanced Practitioner working within Special Guardianship Support.

What we are looking for is to appoint an Advanced Practitioner to join the Calderdale Therapeutic Service (CTS). The CTS provides therapeutic support to children who are in the care of the local authority.  They are responsible for formulating and understanding the complex needs of children who have had traumatic experiences and provide therapeutic interventions where possible. The post holder will be responsible for undertaking assessments under the adoption support fund and undertaking therapeutic intervention of children who are subject to special guardianship arrangements.

 

The Advanced Practitioner will need to be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to take responsibility for the development of specific areas of professional social work practice across the borough including mentoring and supporting newly qualified or less experienced social workers in the team.  It is also desirable for the post holder to have previous experience and /or qualifications in delivering therapeutic interventions.

 

This post holder will also be responsible for supervising social work student placements.

 

Applications will be considered from qualified social worker (BA/DipSW/CQSW or equivalent), registered with Social Work England and who can demonstrate qualifying experience gained within statutory children and families service.
