Fostering Kinship care team - 4 days per week
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Sheffield’s Fostering Service as a Kinship Manager within the Kinship Team. The Kinship Service supports all aspects of kinship care across the Local Authority, ensuring that children can remain within their extended families wherever possible.
As Senior Fieldwork Manager, you will provide operational leadership to social workers and support workers within the Kinship Team. You will oversee assessments, support, and post‑Order support. To ensure a flexible and responsive service, you may also be required to contribute to other areas of the wider Fostering Service in line with service need.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and motivated professional who can demonstrate:
- Extensive experience of kinship care, family and friends care, or related permanency pathways as an advanced practitioner or team manager, or other experience of managing/supervising staff, such as a practice educator
- The ability to lead, plan, and support the ongoing development of kinship services.
- Confidence in undertaking workload and caseload reviews and providing clear oversight.
- Empathy, sensitivity, and strong supervisory skills when supporting colleagues.
- A sound understanding of performance monitoring and how to ensure high standards of practice.
- The ability to manage complaints or incidents diplomatically and constructively.
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly when resolving potential conflict.
- Clear and concise communication of complex information.
- Creative and innovative problem‑solving abilities.
- Confidence in making informed decisions in situations of uncertainty.
- A strategic outlook and willingness to work collaboratively with partners and colleagues.
- A commitment to enhancing children’s life chances through stable, well‑supported, family‑based care.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
