The Vacancy           

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in North Lincolnshire’s Youth Justice Partnership (YJP) for a Team Leader to join our team. 

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hard working and committed Team Leader to be part of our highly innovative and motivated ‘Child First’ service. 

The pace is fast and the work can be complex. You will need excellent engagement and communication skills as well as being pedantic on detail when quality assuring case management work on our IT systems. 

You must be able to plan and organise your work, have natural professional curiosity and be able to work in a multi-agency manner in line with our one family approach. You must have a can-do attitude as this work can be very demanding at times but at the same time extremely rewarding. 

The service works with children who offend, are at risk of offending, family breakdown, homelessness, sexual exploitation, criminal exploitation, and complex mental health. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for either pre or post court work, and line manage staff within those service areas, including staff seconded from our partner agencies. 

As a Team Manager, you will ensure all work is underpinned by the YJB Child First approach where children under 18 years old who commit an offence are treated as a child first and supported to build on their strengths, and will listen to their wishes and feelings to inform service delivery focused upon the child’s needs and desistance from further offending. 

The Team Leader roles are integral to the maintenance, quality, consistency and compliance of all youth justice work in accordance with YJB national standards, related guidance, and associated strategies.

Day-to-day management, support and guidance to a team of Youth Justice case managers and support workers. 

Ensure the views of children and young people are heard and acted upon. 

Allocating, coordinating and making decisions in relation to referrals and requests for Youth Justice Service involvement within a partnership arena. 

Manage the staff team to ensure that practice is of a high quality, providing reflection, supervision, coaching mentoring and employee development. 

Undertake regular case file audits within and across teams 

Supervision and oversight to staff in relation to children’s cases and make professional decisions on the conduct of individual cases as appropriate. 

Provide advice and guidance to workers relating to case issues and personal development 

Ensure compliance with legislative frameworks, council guidelines and procedures and national standards. Contribute to ensuring that the Youth Justice Service fulfils its legal and statutory requirements. 

Chair complex meetings, attend court and represent the service in complex case scenarios. 

Maintain records in either electronic or paper form, as required, to ensure that both activity on individual cases and overall levels of activity can be monitored. 

Monitor team performance against performance indicators and take action to improve performance where required. 

Provide on call decision making in respect of children as appropriate to the role of the Youth Justice Partnership 

Provide management information as required, including the use of computers in this task.
