Location: Northallerton area. Flexible work bases and hybrid working

Salary:To £38,296 per annum pro rata + relocation support

Grade: J-K
Hours: Full and part time hours available. Flexible working can be discussed

Contract: Permanent

The Role

 

Come and join a strong performing fostering service, who are proud that they are able to support local vulnerable children to live with local foster carers. In North Yorkshire we strive to see children remaining close to their families in their community and school.

 

Following the recent internal promotion of team members, we are now looking to recruit. We have dedicated teams providing the supervision and support to all approved foster carers across the county, with local teams in Scarborough, Selby, Knaresborough and Northallerton. 

 

This role will predominantly focus on the supervision and support of approved foster carers ranging from newly approved foster carers to those who care for the most complex children and young people. You will need to be a confident practitioner and able to develop our foster carers in meeting children’s needs.

 

Fostering North Yorkshire is a county service committed to developing excellent practice that is comprised of two large teams across North Yorkshire. These teams provide the supervision and support to our approved foster carers, along with peers who focus on the recruitment and assessment of North Yorkshire foster carers. You will be joining a highly motivated team seeking to deliver high quality foster care in line with the National Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards for both family and friend foster carers and unrelated foster carers.

 

We are looking for Social Workers with a ‘can do’ attitude who are child focussed, like to think outside of the box and are creative in their planning with children.  It does not matter whether you are starting out in your social work career, returning to practice or an experienced worker looking for a new challenge in either a different field or new authority. North Yorkshire County Council offers excellent CPD and career progression. We are part of the Department of Education sector lead improvement programme and a member of The Yorkshire Urban and Rural Teaching Partnership.

 

The team consists of a Team Manager and Practice Supervisors to support all our Social Workers in the team. The team have dedicated business support to enable Social Workers to spend more time with Children, Young People and their families. We have a well-defined supervision policy which includes regular group supervisions, individual supervisions and opportunities to participate in County Wide practice model sessions, and engage in appreciative enquiry and conversation café’s about practice with our Principal Social Worker.

 

North Yorkshire County Council covers a wide area with teams in all districts, shortly to become North Yorkshire Council in April 2023.

 

The Area

 

Northallerton is a market town located in the central belt of North Yorkshire, with great links across the County, we as well as the county with the A1(M) being 20 minutes away.

It’s known for its markets, agricultural services, local cafes/restaurants/bars and tourism. The town is located between The Moors and the Dales which makes it an ideal place to stay in order to explore the surrounding area.

There are six primary schools in Northallerton, a secondary school and a Technology College. In addition there a number of privately run infant and day care nursery schools in Northallerton.
