We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated senior care officer to work within our short breaks children’s home, on a temporary basis until June 2023.
The Cygnets offers overnight short breaks to children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years old, who have a learning disability, including those with a complex health need and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
We are looking for a committed, creative and versatile individual who will be prepared to work flexibly on a rota that covers 7 days and includes weekends, bank holidays and regular on-call duties.
The successful candidate will support the homes manager in the delivery of a safe short break service and will need to have a sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and initiatives that may impact on the service including Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality standards. You will be responsible for supervising a small number of staff. You must hold as minimum a level 3 qualification in residential childcare or equivalent.
Applicants will need to have a working knowledge of child development and be able to engage with children and young people who have no verbal communication.
