Job description

Leeds Children’s Social Work Services are committed to safely and appropriately reducing the number of children who are Looked After. As part of this commitment, we aim to ensure that all children who are Looked After, should have the opportunity to experience family life in a safe and secure environment.

Following recent investment in Children’s Services we plan to expand and improve our Placement Support Service. As part of this, we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Social Workers and Placement Officers to join us in our journey of improvement and development.

The role of a Placement Social Worker is pivotal in matching children and young people with residential and foster placements that meet their needs and offer them opportunities to reach their full potential. The work will involve working closely with our social work, care leaver and fostering teams as well as independent residential and fostering providers.

You will be part on an established and supportive team who will support you to find creative solutions to secure the best homes that we can offer our children and young people and to develop ‘support packages’ around individual placements to increase stability.

We would very much welcome applications from you if have the right level of knowledge, skills and experience. The successful candidates will be experienced, creative and passionate about improving the outcomes for children and young people. They will also be dedicated to effecting positive change for children and young people and play a significant role in supporting the continued development of the team.
