We’re building on our child-centred social work foundations to deliver good outcomes for children, young people and families who need our help.
That’s where you come in. We are looking to recruit a Team Manager for our Placement Support Team. This is a specialist team based within the Fostering Service and provides opportunities to help develop the service. The team is made up of experienced Social Care Staff, a Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Senior Mental Health Practitioner and a tier 2 CAMHS funded senior practitioner at Northorpe Hall. These roles are designed to increase the range of interventions that can be offered to equip carers and Social Workers to support our children. You will act as the operational link to Health and take a lead role in the support offered to our Looked After Children.
You will work alongside Team Managers with responsibility for Recruitment & Assessment of Foster Carers, Connected Person’s Team and the Supervisory Team.
Working strategically as part of a wider management team to design and implement service changes and improvement, you will have opportunities to help shape the service to ensure children are protected; you will be accountable for the development and delivery of a complex range of key services in line with policy, best practice, professional standards and legislation, ensuring children are always at the centre of social work practice. As a manager you will provide supervision and opportunities for reflection and analysis, as well as being responsible for the allocation of casework and actively managing caseloads so that our practitioners are able to do the quality child centred work that they want to.
We will provide you with a comprehensive induction programme, dedicated supervision and a range of great CPD opportunities as well as further management development. You will be allocated a mentor/coach and will have access to a range of management development opportunities to enable you to become the best you can be.
We are looking for an experienced Social Work professional with a proven track record in managing both practitioners and case related performance. You will have a strong understanding of what best practice looks like and be passionate about inspiring and improving children’s lives, as well as the continuous professional development of social work practitioners. A creative and flexible approach to work and the drive and motivation to work with families whose needs are complex is key. Good people skills are a must. Travel is an essential part of this job and therefore it would be extremely difficult for you to do your job effectively if you did not use a car for all or most of the time. It is essential that you hold a full and valid driving licence and it is expected that you will either use a council vehicle or your own car.
