It is a great time to join NYCC as we build a positive future for Adult Social Care within the Health and Adult Services directorate and we are currently looking for a Social Care Assessor to join our planned care based in Colburn.
Delivering excellent front line services that promote the wellbeing of the residents of North Yorkshire, you will contribute to providing a statutory social work service to adults with health and social care needs. You will contribute to achieving high quality, timely and person-centred needs assessments, safeguarding enquiries, care planning, risk assessments, intervention and review appropriate to the work of the team or service unit. Using a strength-based approach, you will enable people to achieve their personalised outcomes.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with adults and able to make crucial decisions and problem solve, whilst meeting customer requirements and working towards team objectives. The ability to work both independently as well as part of a wider team will be vital.
You will have a sound knowledge of the key principles of the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding as well as all other relevant legislation relating to the provision of services for adults with long term conditions. To be successful you will have a flexible approach to work with an aptitude for working independently and embracing change. You will be required to travel across the locality so having access to transport is essential.
You will have a commitment to your own ongoing social work education and be ready to develop your career, for instance through training to become a Safeguarding Enquiry Officer, practice educator and/or Best Interest Assessor.

This position will be subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Disclosure check and you must be qualified with a social work degree, social work qualification (Dip.SW; BA Social Work) or equivalent. You will need to be HCPC registered.
