Application deadline 21st April 2021
Job location Leeds

We are seeking to strengthen the management team to enable Leeds Children’s Residential services to continue the positive growth in this area that has been achieved already and maintaining the underpinning ethos of Leeds being a child friendly city. We are looking to employ an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Residential Practitioner who wants to join the energetic residential care team. To take a lead role in the day to day leadership and management of the home in the provision of a safe and secure care service for children and young people in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and complies with Leeds City Council and the homes internal policies, procedures and guidance.

You will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of young people’s needs within a residential service, and able to work closely with and provide leadership to team members. You will have internal responsibilities which will include staff supervision and appraisal; training and development of the team; liaising with stakeholders and external colleagues in health and education and contributing to developing the role in a positive manner.

The role involves helping to support a group of young people who may have behavioural and emotional difficulties at times which is both challenging and very rewarding. You must be also able to physically hold and support people when challenging situations are presented.

You will need a flexible approach to work as a rota shift system is in operation to meet the changing needs of the young people and you will also need to be confident in IT systems as the children’s home is moving to a paperless establishment. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate adaptable skills to work across the residential estate should the need be required.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a rapidly developing child focused service for young people within Leeds City Council.

To apply for the position, you must have experience within a residential setting within the last 5 years, and have a minimum of a level 3 qualification in residential care or equivalent.

The post also requires the successful candidate to undertake QCF, Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People Services which you will be supported to complete.
