We invest in a full accredited and non-accredited supervision training programme entitled ‘Effective Reflective Supervision for Managers’ which has been running successfully since 2013.

This three day course aims to inspire excellence in supervision. It has been designed to ensure supervisors have the confidence and competence to provide effective reflective supervision that is both supportive and challenging. This strategy is in line with the Social Work Task Force Recommendations and clearly demonstrates that our Children and Young People’s Service is committed to achieving effective social worker recruitment and retention so that people with the right level of experience and skill are recruited and retained as part of a workforce who are professional, motivated, and committed.

In addition, we also offer Practice Supervisors (new to the role in the last 12 months) the opportunity to participate in the (Research in Practice) Practice Supervisor Development Programme, and the Firstline Leadership Programme to more experienced Practice Supervisors.

“North Yorkshire County Council values the importance of reflection and strives to develop best practice. One of the things that appealed to me was the opportunity to work with a team so highly regarded” – Practice Supervisor
