The Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) works within Children and Young People’s Services to give advice and guidance to employers, organisations and other individuals who have concerns about the behaviour of an adult who works with children and young people in Calderdale.

 

This role is essential for ensuring a joined up, collaborative approach to safeguarding across the borough. The post holder’s duties will include being the first point of contact for all allegations made against people who work with children and young people as well as chairing strategy meetings concerning allegations.

 

Applications will be considered from qualified social workers, who can demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance and have the skills to manage individuals to a high standard.

 

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed.
