Rotherham Borough Council is excited to be recruiting Fostering Social Workers to join our friendly and supportive fostering team.

The candidates we are looking for will have enthusiasm and ambition to be able to deliver high quality support, training and assessment of prospective foster carers. You will be driven and motivated to promote an empathic understanding of the needs of looked after children across the service. You will be genuinely interested in delivering a high quality service that is grounded in providing an environment for children’s emotional health and wellbeing to thrive and flourish in safe, stable and permanent placements.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is investing significantly in its Fostering Service in order to increase the number of foster carers and to achieve the best outcomes for our looked after children.

The ideal candidates will be equipped with the necessary skills to deliver a range of tasks necessary for the recruitment, training and assessment of Foster Carers.  You will have excellent recording skills, an in depth knowledge of legislation, and have excellent communication skills to work with people across the service.

If you are interested and have experience working in Fostering assessment, support or adoption, this could be the ideal role for you.

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in UK, be social work qualified, have a clean driving licence and be HCPC registered.


You will have experience of working with children in need.
You will be able to organise your daily workload independently.

You will have experience of carrying out safeguarding investigations in a multi-agency environment.
You will be able to demonstrate initiative and be able to respond independently to unexpected situations.

You will be capable of accurate reporting and the communication of sometimes complex information to a variety of audiences.
You will be passionate about maximising a child’s life chances.

We would welcome applications from Social Workers who are confident and robust in their practice and who have some experience of working with Looked after Children or in Fostering & Adoption
