The Adoption Service finds new families for children who, for a variety of reasons, cannot be looked after by their birth parents or family; we also find, train and assess adoptive parents for these children.

It is our aim to become an outstanding service and the Development Worker is central to that aim. The Development Worker plays a key role in supporting the team and the team manager in ensuring that deadlines are met, statistical returns made, reports on performance prepared and recruitment activity is undertaken.
In addition the post brings with it responsibility for the maintenance and management of our ‘letterbox’ contact service, which is the means by which indirect contact is maintained between adopted children and their birth families..
The post involves written, telephone and face-to-face contact with adopters, adopted adults and birth parents and, as such, you will need good communication skills in all of these areas.
We are very much a team and it is essential that you are able to work in such an environment, as a team player. However, it is also essential that you are able to work on own initiative.
Induction, supervision, Performance and Development Reviews and training are all provided.
