Leeds Children’s Homes are looking to recruit vibrant and caring individuals with either experience of, or an interest in, working with children in care.

There are several opportunities available on both a full-time or part time basis across the city in 7 of the authority’s children’s homes.  We have homes that specialise in providing care for children aged 7-12 years, those aged 12 to 17 and those older teenagers who are preparing for adult life.  We currently, also, operate two excellent 12 week reunification homes delivering an Integrated Treatment Model of DBT skills to return children home to their families from care.

You should have a real interest and enthusiasm for working with some of Leeds’ most disadvantaged children and want to be part of a team supporting our children to be the best that they can be.  We aim to help prepare all children to return to family life and part of the role will be working directly with the important “family” members for the children in our care; both in the children’s home environment and also in the community.

The Care Officer or Assistant Care Officer will primarily work across a shift pattern which will include evenings and weekend work.  The successful candidate would need to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the home.

If you have good interpersonal skills, enjoy helping others to achieve their best, have creative ideas for the development of children’s services and the role that our children’s homes can play but most importantly want to offer children who come to live in our homes the best possible care we can, then this may be the right opportunity for you.

For the Care Officer post, the successful candidate would already have the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care (or equivalent).  For interested candidates who hold this qualification, its equivalent or higher related qualification you would be appointed at the Care Officer grade.  For those successful candidates who will be working to attain this award; you will be appointed at Assistant Care Officer grade until completion of qualification.  You MUST be willing and able to achieve this qualification within 2 years of appointment to post.
