HEAD OF SERVICE, SOCIAL WORK (Post Ref: 172225)

Special E: £63,963 – £73,101 pa

We have now created an additional Head of Service to take our Social Work services forward. Along with the other Heads of Service, and other members of the senior management team you will be responsible for the safe and effective running of or Social work Services, ensuring that we can demonstrate that our services are good or better for children of Bradford.

 

You will be part of the senior management team and will report to the Deputy Director, Childrens Social Care.

 

You will support and challenge our 400 Social Workers and Family Support workers to ensure we consistently deliver effective work with our children and families. You will be part of a driven senior management team who are working closely together to ensure performance and professional standards are of the highest order. You will set strategic objectives and play a pivotal role in translating these into high quality service delivery.

 

SERVICE MANAGER, FOSTERING

This is a great opportunity to take on the leadership of our internal Fostering Service.

This aim is supported by our exciting 4 year 3.2 million innovation bid, one aspect of which is to develop a workforce that is therapeutically trained and supported, motivated, aspirational and highly skilled, who have the best interests of the children at the heart of everything they do. You will be integral to delivering the outcomes of the fostering review and continue to drive the promotion of the two mockingbird hubs in the district.

You will have responsibility for managing the Fostering Service. You will be managing a budget of 12m+ and have oversight of over 450 Foster carers. You must be an experienced manager, a fostering background would be desirable.

 

 

SERVICE MANAGER – Social Work

We require talented and inspirational managers who can help our social workers deliver their best for our children and families. We are proud of our thriving teaching partnership with Bradford University and Bradford College which strengthens our learning approach and we are developing a professional development programme for all social workers with a clear progression pathway to increase our staff retention.

 

As Service Manager for one area of Bradford you will provide visible leadership to a service that champions and celebrates high quality practice and seeks to continuously improve outcomes. You will provide effective management of statutory social work including court work and child protection to achieve good, timely outcomes for vulnerable children and their families and you will ensure robust safeguarding practices and policies are in place and are fully implemented.

 

The post holder will be part of the Social Work Service Management team and will provide cover for colleagues when required and may be required to undertake out of hours duty management cover for EDT too.

What are we looking for from you for these roles?

 

  • You will have a proven track record of successful management in a local government social care service, be educated to degree level and you must hold a recognised social work qualification – Dip.SW, C.Q.S.W., BA in Social Work.
  • Management Qualification such as Diploma 5 IN Leadership and Management, MCI Level 4 in Management, DMS, CMS is desirable.
  • You will be an adept and influential communicator who has experience of successfully engaging with staff, stakeholders and politicians.
  • You will have an appreciation of the complexity of leading staff through a large scale organisational change programme and/or previous senior management experience within a comparable context.

 

You will be apart of a supportive leadership team where you have the opportunity to innovate and develop your ideas and skills and where your learning will be encouraged.
